The Lindfield Modern Kitchen

2022 Chrysalis Awards: Kitchen Remodel $150,000-$250,000

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

The primary goal for these clients was to create a better layout and add more meaningful storage in critical locations for the working triangle, increase usable working surfaces and incorporate state of the art luxury cabinetry and appliances that would add value to the family’s lifestyle and health goals.

The secondary goal was to improve the overall function and aesthetics of the kitchen beginning with better quality cabinetry, clean modern design that appeared simple but full of storage space and many organizational solutions.

The final goal was to add luxury state of the art appliances, improved circulation between the kitchen and family room where meaningful life memories are created with their loved ones.

CHALLENGES

Layout: Location of the gas cooktop. The client wanted to continue cooking with gas, however, the only viable location for the cooktop was to house it in the island. Based on the previous cooktop location and venting system, the Island would be the closest place with minimal work to continue with the gas line and venting stack that both were buried in the concrete foundation.

Storage: The next challenge was keeping the existing footprint, improving the working triangle while adding the necessary space for the much-needed storage at each location considering the relocation of the fridge.

Style change: The transformation in styles from heavy Tuscan to Modern. Material selections would be easy, but the many architectural arched openings had to be reframed to simplify the design and space.

SOLUTIONS

Layout: Our primary goal was to improve the working triangle with meaningful solutions to the landing areas as well as the storage solutions. We omitted the barriers between the family room, kitchen, and breakfast room. In its place, we redesigned a multi-purpose island large enough for prep work, cooking, and dining.  We relocated the fridge closer to the eating area, left of the sink and opposite the new gas cooking appliance. By omitting the oversized corner pantry, we were able to include a dedicated cabinetry pullout pantry with a bonus space for a coffee station.

Meaningful Changes and Storage Solutions:

When it comes to making recommendations for something as critical as the kitchen cabinetry and appliances, we choose to only recommend brands we can trust to produce a state-of-the-art quality product.  Therefore, the only cabinetry line that met our quality standards had to be Crystal Encore. We combined a two-tone kitchen design by using the Vienna door, a white laminate on a certain portion of the kitchen and the Springfield door in a natural walnut to create a simple but timeless Mid-Century kitchen design with tons of storage and better working triangle.

We also recommended the Subzero Wolf Appliances for the entire kitchen, that too is a brand we have come to trust and respect. The many benefits of a Subzero refrigerators with the ability to preserve fresh fruits and veggies longer than any other refrigeration unit played a critical role in the decision-making process for this family.

Change the Style:

By omitting all the arched openings, removing the pony wall barriers and by using Crystal Encore frameless line of cabinetry with floating shelves and the use of Caesarstone Quartz material, we were able to achieve a beautiful new modern look for the overall space in this home.

It’s with a sincere heart that we wish to thank you for choosing to produce such a high-quality product that are designed to last and provide a lifetime of positive experiences to all who chose to buy them.
