Luxury Kitchen Design Trends for 2020

modern design kitchen

Reimaging your kitchen space can be challenging and a daunting task. It’s simple for a person to be inspired by current design trends but feel at a loss when finding ways to implement them into their current kitchen, I find myself feeling the same way many times. The design style for kitchens in 2020 and beyond are combinations of white and with light stained woods like walnut or pine. Yes, you will be seeing an implementation of wood back in our kitchen spaces. However, the trend is, keep it clean and simple with a splash of your favorite color blue. Yes, the Pantone color of the year is blue. That’s why the team at Euro Design Build is consistently up to date with the latest design trends, from pops of cool color to curated cabinetry. With innovative, modern designs and a renewed love for “classic meets eclectic”, we know that 2020 is the Year of the Kitchen.

Countertops

From butcher blocks to golden-veined marble-like quartz countertops are the perfect place to bring character to a functional space. Simply changing an outdated Formica countertop for beautiful and highly durable quartz, luxury quartzite or a warm wood can add dimension to an otherwise tired and cluttered space. Although clean and beautiful Marble has been the look over the past few years, it has proven not to be the ideal choice for a kitchen countertop since it’s too porous, soft and can be easily etched by numerous chemicals used daily in any kitchen, but don’t despair, you can find the same elegance and natural veining with the new many options of Caesarstone or Cambria quartz materials. Yes, the dramatic flair of veining found in marble is now duplicated in the new quartz solid surface products, which makes them the ultimate choice for the new countertop in any classic look moving into 2020.

Pops of Color

2020 will see a return to color in the kitchen in more ways than one. Monochromatic and stark white kitchens have been a timeless design go to, but they can easily leave a kitchen dated without the proper upgrades. If you’re tired of the beloved ‘90s kitchen trend, you’re in luck! The trend of color on cabinets, backsplashes, and walls has returned. This year’s Pantone color of the year is Blue.

We love an elegant and dramatic pop of color in the kitchen, and it seems that this trend is continuing to find its way back into the hearts of our clients. Of course, choosing colors and the elements they exist in is a highly personal experience. Naturally, colors clients gravitate toward are ones that are influenced by current fashions and home trends, but we always recommend to look beyond immediate inclinations to choose a color(s) that can be loved and lived with for at least 5 years or more. A splash of bright color can go a long way.

The Small Touches

Streamlined and contemporary touches aren’t for everyone, but designs built for perfecting kitchen multi-tasking are a huge trend that’s bound to take over in 2020. From push-open and close cabinets and recessed handles to hidden appliances, a sleek look with minimalistic material is changing the way we use our kitchens. If a client is seeking a kitchen that inspires simplicity, while adding emphasis to streamlined cabinetry, talk to our design team about handle-less cabinets, stainless steel appliances, and sleek, natural wood materials.

If you’re looking to add elements of pizzazz while keeping a kitchen understated, a touch of copper or brass may do the trick. Of course, copper and brass have been in the trend rotation for several years, but more elegant uses of metal accents are becoming a permanent staple in household appliances and centerpieces. There are, of course, smart ways to lean into the trend without committing to brass or copper throughout your home. Use warm metals for handles, sharp golds for brackets, and eye-drawing copper for serving ware. All provide elegant ways to add that touch of statement metal to otherwise subtle kitchen designs.
